The Art of Landscape Through Pen and Ink Drawing

Landscape artist Kay Harden offers original pen and ink drawings -- her ink drawings capture landscapes and Redwoods of Humboldt County, California.

Pen and ink drawing can be unforgiving – once the ink hits the paper, it's permanent. I work from photographs I take of natural landscapes and when I sit in my studio to draw, my feelings about the subject flow from pen to the paper. My goal is to capture the life and spirit of each landscape in the intricate detail of my drawings.

I first learned about ink drawing techniques in art school (hard edge design, pointillism, hatching, cross hatching and more). In the past 20-years I’ve created and developed new skills as a working artist, including “rapidography.”

The purpose of showing my work here is, in part, to provide a way for you to view and purchase my art without having to leave your home. But I also want to share with you the natural beauty of Northern California. I hope you enjoy viewing the giant Redwoods and Redwood forests, our coast line, pristine streams and rolling hills that inspire me to draw. If you have time, please contact me and let me know what you think of my pen and ink drawings.
